How to play charades

Charades is a guessing game where one player acts out a word or phrase without speaking while their team guesses.

  1. Split into two teams.
  2. A player picks a prompt and has 60 seconds to act it out silently.
  3. Their team shouts guesses. A correct guess earns 1 point.
  4. Teams alternate until everyone has had a turn. Highest score wins.

Standard charades signals:

  • Hold up fingers for the number of words.
  • Tap your forearm with fingers to show the number of syllables.
  • Crank an old movie camera for a movie, open your palms for a book, and mimic singing for a song.
  • Tug your ear for "sounds like."

Skip the slips of paper: In Tadado's Heads Up mode, the phone shows the prompt and runs the timer, so nobody has to write anything down. See how to play Heads Up charades for a full walkthrough.
